Dr. Anu Adebogun

Dr. Anu is a speaker, author, and policy-focused researcher dedicated to empowering young people and bridging the gap between research, lived experience, and meaningful social impact.

She completed her doctorate at the University of Oxford, where she led the first in-depth study of Child-to-Parent Violence and Abuse (CPVA) as experienced by Black mothers in the UK. Read more about her research here.

Alongside her academic work, Dr. Anu has spent more than a decade in the youth and community sector. Her outreach spans early intervention, prevention, and national youth engagement programmes, all focused on creating spaces where young people feel safety and empowered.

She has authored two acclaimed non-fiction books: It’s A Brave Young World, longlisted for the UK Literacy Association Awards, and the bestselling Black and Brave History. Both books translate complex social issues into relatable, empowering narratives that help young people claim their voice and agency in a world that can misunderstand them.

Dr. Anu serves as a Trustee for the Migrant Leaders Foundation and leads the Youth Department at her community church, reflecting her commitment to faith, intergenerational leadership, and community empowerment.

Through her writing, speaking, and consulting, she offers insight, empathy, and practical tools for both personal and systemic transformation. Dr. Anu invites audiences to rethink safety, justice, and healing, not as distant ideals, but as everyday acts of courage and collective change.
